Why Remove Hyperlinks from a PDF?

PDFs created from web pages, Word documents, or markdown files often contain dozens of embedded hyperlinks. In many contexts, those links create problems. A PDF submitted to a government portal may be rejected if it contains outbound links (a common security policy). A printed document with blue underlined text looks unprofessional. An archived document where the linked URLs have since gone dead creates a confusing reading experience.

Removing hyperlinks "flattens" the document — the visible text remains exactly the same, but the clickable link annotations are stripped. The result is a clean, static PDF that prints correctly, meets submission requirements, and looks professional.

How It Works

1. Upload your PDF. The tool reads all annotation data embedded in the file.
2. Links are detected and removed. All URI link annotations are stripped from every page using PDF-lib running entirely in your browser.
3. Download the clean PDF. Text, images, and layout are completely unchanged — only the hyperlink annotations are gone.
